ApertoMemory proposes a portable, encrypted memory file

An open format for moving AI memory between systems without handing readable data to a storage provider.

ApertoMemory is exploring a problem that companion platforms rarely solve well: how a person can own and move memory without exposing its contents to the infrastructure carrying it.

The repository describes a client-side encrypted file format with signed provenance. That is a stronger starting point than an opaque cloud-only memory store, especially for people moving between models.

It remains an emerging technical project, not a one-click rescue service. A portable memory file can still give a new system much better context to work with.

A FEW THINGS TO TRY

  1. Difficulty: developer-oriented.
  2. Privacy direction: client-side encrypted, according to the project.
  3. DEGRADED test status: repository reviewed; migration not independently reproduced.
  4. Best fit: people already experimenting with self-hosted or custom companions.
