LEGAL, IN PLAIN LANGUAGE
PRIVACY POLICY
DEGRADED is built to communicate less, so it should collect less too. This page describes what actually happens to your data.
SCOPE AND CONTACT
This policy applies to degraded.echoscarrie.com and the DEGRADED service. DEGRADED, operated under the echoscarrie.com brand, is responsible for the product data described here. Privacy requests can be sent to support@echoscarrie.com.
WHAT WE PROCESS
- Status-page data: your selected state, optional note, recovery estimate, page identifier, acknowledgement count and creation or update times.
- Edit authorization: the service stores a one-way hash of the owner token. The raw edit key is kept in your browser's local storage.
- Visitor preference: a visitor's browser stores whether that visitor has already acknowledged a particular page.
- Anonymous product analytics: we count cookieless browser sessions, page views, referral or UTM source, outbound link clicks and named product events such as page creation, status updates, acknowledgements and checkout progress. Private page identifiers are removed from paths, and status text, owner keys, names, email addresses, IP addresses and payment details are not written to the analytics table.
- Technical data: hosting and security systems may temporarily process IP address, request headers, device or browser information, timestamps and diagnostic logs.
- Support data: if you contact us, we process your email address, message and any order or troubleshooting information you provide.
- Payment data: Paddle processes payment and transaction information for Pro purchases. DEGRADED does not receive or store your full card number.
WHAT NOT TO PUT IN A STATUS
A status page is unlisted, not secret. Anyone with its link can view and forward it. Please do not put passwords, financial details, medical records, exact location, emergency information or another person's private data in the note.
WHY WE USE DATA
We process product data to create and display your page, authorize edits, count acknowledgements, understand anonymous product usage, prevent abuse, secure and debug the service, respond to support requests and meet legal obligations. Where applicable, the legal bases are performance of our agreement, our legitimate interests in running and improving a safe minimal service, consent where requested, and compliance with law.
LOCAL STORAGE
DEGRADED uses essential browser local storage for the owner edit key and acknowledgement state. It also uses session storage for a random anonymous visit identifier and first-touch referral attribution. No analytics cookie is set, and these values are not used for advertising. You can clear browser storage at any time, but doing so may remove your ability to edit a page or remember an acknowledgement.
WHO RECEIVES DATA
We may share only what is necessary with hosting, database, security and support providers that help operate DEGRADED; with Paddle to process paid orders; or with authorities or affected parties when reasonably necessary to comply with law, prevent harm or defend legal rights.
We do not sell personal data. We do not use status content for targeted advertising, and there is currently no advertising system or public profile directory.
RETENTION AND DELETION
Status-page data is retained while needed to provide the live page and maintain the service. Raw anonymous analytics events are deleted after 90 days. Local-storage data remains on your device until you or the browser clears it. Support, security and future transaction records are kept only as long as reasonably necessary for support, fraud prevention, accounting and legal obligations.
You can request deletion or correction by emailing support@echoscarrie.com and providing enough information to locate the page. We may need to verify control of the edit key. Some records may remain temporarily in backups or where retention is legally required.
INTERNATIONAL PROCESSING
Our service providers may process data in countries other than your own. Where required, we use appropriate contractual or legal safeguards for international transfers. You can contact us for more information about safeguards relevant to your data.
YOUR RIGHTS
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict or object to processing; receive a portable copy; withdraw consent; and complain to a data-protection authority. These rights may have legal exceptions. Email support@echoscarrie.com to make a request.
SECURITY, AGE AND AUTOMATION
We use reasonable technical and organizational safeguards, including hashed owner tokens and encrypted network transport. No online service can guarantee absolute security. DEGRADED is intended for adults aged 18 or over and is not designed to collect children's data.
DEGRADED does not make decisions with legal or similarly significant effects through automated profiling. We may update this policy as the service changes; the latest revision date appears at the top.
